RESULTS

It was hot, very hot, but that didn't stop the 36 indomitable seniors who
stepped out onto the Pasadena Lawn Bowling Club green and started to play the first of two triples games that would decide who would win the medals.

Run by the Pasadena Senior Center, and coordinated by Bob Ratcliffe of the Pasadena club, the Senior Olympics is a fun event for those people that have reached the age of 50.  The oldest lady contestant was a sprightly Freddie Hinson, of the Long Beach club, looking decades younger than her 88 years, and the senior male contestant was George Rajacich, who skipped in both games, and admitted to being 92.  The games are organized as two blind draws, but effectively you play against everyone in your age group in order to decide the medal positions.

It is a popular tournament for those bowlers in the immediate area, and is also enjoyed by people who visit from other areas.  E.B. Parkell was down from San Francisco again to enjoy the festivities.  A great lunch was provided by the Senior Center, along with snacks and drinks provided by the Pasadena club and included the 200 bottles of water to keep everyone hydrated as the temperature pushed relentlessly towards 100 degrees.
