1. Games are scheduled to start at 9am on the scheduled date, which is a Saturday.
a. Complete teams should arrive before 8:45am
b. Players should bring their own lunch
c. Captains will call the opponent’s captain to confirm prior to Friday evening (but see note at the end of this section).
d. If a full team cannot be fielded, the captain should call the
opposing captain (or the league) and rearrange the fixture. Do not
appear with less than a full complement of players.
e. Substitutes can be used if required for the Pairs games. (Only injury can cause a substitution during any game.)
f. With agreement between the two captains, games can be
re-scheduled for the Sunday, or any other agreed upon date or time (see
guidelines).
g. If a game is rained out, then please re-schedule with the opposing captain, again the next day, Sunday, could be used.
Note: We have had occasions in the past where clubs have rescheduled a
game based on a chance of rain forecast, and the actual day turned out
to be fine. Please delay any rescheduling decisions until the morning
of the game if possible.
2. The format will be one game of Rinks in the morning, and two Pairs in the afternoon.
3. The Captains will write out, prior to the Pairs games, and before
they receive any information about the make up of the opposing Pairs
teams, those members of the team that will be playing in Pair 1 and
Pair 2, and give the information to the opposing captain. Pair 1 will
play Pair 1, and Pair 2 will play Pair 2. (It is understood, and it is
certainly permissible, that the captains may want to format their Pairs
teams based on how team members played in the Rinks game. The spirit
of this law is to avoid any team changing their Pairs formations once
they know the opposition’s formation and thus gaining an unfair
advantage.)
4. Each captain will call in, or email a report of the games to the
League (626-282-4664) or rgratcliffe@earthlink.net for inclusion in the
weekly Newsletter.
5. Each team will wear whites or matching colored outfits.
6. Any dispute relating to the administration of the league can be
presented to the league (626-282-4664 or cell: 818-383-1221).
7. Scoring:
a. Games will be 15 ends – Ties stand.
b. 4 points will be awarded for winning the game (2 points each if a tie).
c. 2 points will be awarded for each set of 5 ends that a team wins,
i.e. the first five ends, ends 6 through 10, and ends 11 through 15.
d. Each captain should confirm the final score (30 points shared
between the two teams) with the opposing captain and send the score to
the league with the match reports.
Note: The 4 registered players for a club’s Trophy (TL) team may not
play for the club’s DL team. However, any alternates that have played
for the TL team may play for the DL team.
E.g. If A, B, C, and D are the registered players for a TL team, and
the rest of the alphabet are the remainder of that club’s players, then
the TL team may consist of A, B, C, and D, or A, B, C, and E, or A, E,
F, and G, or even E, F, G, and H. Anybody in the club can play for the
DL team except A, B, C, and D.
